The Life Of A Photographer !!!!!

My life is busy, hectic and long long days.
When the sun is out and your all enjoying it with your family most of the time i am sitting in front of my computer editing for all my clients. It is very rare that i actually get a day off just to chill out, i have 3 children which take up alot of my time too.

This image took 30 minutes prior to set the backdrop up and lights ready for the shoot.

I also travel 30 minutes to get to my studio and 30 minutes home.
1 hour organising the poses and talking lexie to want to be apart of it she was a bit fed up of all the waiting bless her.
Then i have to tidy up ready for the next client.
Once i am home i put my images into the computer then i edit each one and size as i feel fit, then i organise them into a private viewing gallery for the client to view and pick their images.
when they are ready to order i have to organise all the selected images and order them from my lab and then wait delivery, then i have to pack the images and deliver to my customer.

so if you add all the time up what i charge for a session is not alot at all really considering i am working for hours every time i have a photo shoot.

I also have to fit family time in with my children for all the things mothers do which includes the up keep of my home, the washing and cleaning and shopping and homework etc.

I very rarely get time to myself to do what ever i want with, I love my job and i will always put 100% into every shoot i do, i would just like for everyone to remember we as photographers are only human and we do not live lavish lifestyles like you may think. At the end of the day i am a working mother with her own business not like a 9 to 5 job where once your home you can switch off coz i can not do this.

So the next time you think it is too expensive think about how many hours your photographer is putting in just for you and please appreciate there talent.

School photography

Every year i get alot of people coming to me complaining about the school photographers, so i decided to approach my son's nursery to offer my services, i thought i can do a better job.
Comments i have been told are hair is a mess,  fake smiles or no smile at all, faces are dirty and just not good at all.
I was armed with baby wipes, a comb, hair grips and a spray bottle and i amazing assistant.
the bottle was magic fairy dust and pixie spray ( a bottle of water) which my assistant used to entertain the kids with and to sort hair out and i was amazed it worked a treat.
We interacted with every child and made them feel comfortable with what was happening.
Every child is not going to want to smile for you but about 98% did for me and every child was clean and tidy. I made the proof cards very simple to understand and order, also got rid of all the things people do not want in there packs.

It was a very long day which i spent most of it sitting on the floor at the children's level but i feel very proud of myself with the results, we did single shots, siblings and class shots in one day and the proof went out just over a week later.
I am looking to take more nurseries on in the future to provide natural first school photos for every parent.

Perfect pooches

I often talk about how important your animals are, they are apart of your family.
On 16th may i was at Ellierose Dog Grooming https://www.facebook.com/ellierosedoggrooming?fref=ts photographing the cutest dogs, i got alot of cuddles of the dogs and i even helped ali with the grooming, mainly just helping keep the dogs still there was a few big puppies with alot of energy and i got soaked.
Meet rocky he is a gentle giant and he gives massive hugs, alot of people stray away from this breed when he is out for walks as they think he is dangerous but he is not he is soft and loves everyone.

Meet oscar, he is 9month old and full of energy, snorts like a little pig and it is so cute. Likes his treats and his hugs.

How to create new memories with your wedding outfits

I know most of you that have been married your wedding dress and suit is sitting in a wardrobe if you still have it.
You think to yourself i wish there was something i could do with it?

I would like to introduce you to michelle and kevin who have been married for 10 years, to celebrate their anniversary they asked if they could bring their outfits in and create ne memories with their children.

they were both in the RAF and kevin wore his number 1's for his wedding day.
Meet sam their son who had a great time in dads uniform.

And this is abigail their daughter and being every girls dream to have a wedding dress on its safe to say she felt like a princess in mums wedding dress.

These images are priceless to michelle and kevin and michelle messaged me to say she had a tear in her eye she was so happy with them.

abi didn't just stop at mums wedding dress she had a princess party with mums clothes.

How much do you love your dogs?

Our dogs are an extended part of our family, i know my dog jasper thinks he is one of the kids and runs around with them playing.

But how many of you have had your pooches portrait done?  not enough of you maybe?

I love working with dogs they all have their own little personality and full of hugs and kisses.

Treasure your family everyday

I would like to share my view on families, a big chunk  of us only see family on special occasions like birthdays, weddings and so forth.
You never know what life is going to throw at you!! Yes everyone has a busy lifestyle and it is not always possible to fit everything in but if there is one thing that you should try and fit into your schedule it is your family.
If your like me you will have old relatives that live alone and they will tell you there fine and don't need anything, but i know they are lonely and would love a little bit of company even just once a month.
I get excited when i get to photograph a family because i know they will treasure the experience for the rest of their lives especially when they all have that image in their homes to look back on.
Don't leave it too late and then say i wish i had of had a family photograph! Get everyone together it only takes 1 hour out of your time to make something beautiful you can keep for the rest of you life.
